Photographer born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and currently based in Mexico City. Studied at the International Center of Photography in New York City in 2015, where the experience reshaped the way I saw and thought about photography.
A pivotal moment in my practice came when I constructed a camera obscura in my room and truly began to understand how light and photography work. This prompted me to start working with slower and larger formats, becoming obsessed with making huge images. I'm a very different photographer depending on the camera I'm using, similar to language, where I think very differently in English than I do in Spanish.
My work is deeply influenced by a connection to nature and elemental forces, as well as an interest in abstraction and the notion that photography is fundamentally a lie, but to me, lying is an art form in itself. Recent workshops have continued to shape my evolving perspective on the medium, and I've rediscovered my love for the photobook.
Currently, I'm trying to focus my work into stories that have more time and personal meaning invested in them. My goal is to create work that communicates with audiences in meaningful ways, with particular interest in developing projects suited for book form.
